Community-Based Research Department

Blossom Inc.’s Community-Based Research Department serves as the organisation’s intellectual and evidence-generating engine, grounding all programmes, advocacy, and system-strengthening efforts in rigorous and contextually relevant research. Rooted in a Do No Harm and survivor-centred framework, the Department is dedicated to producing high-quality, field-driven evidence that both reflects and amplifies, at local and global levels and through cross border and cross continent connections and collaborations, the lived realities of children, families, and vulnerable communities across Guyana.

The Department employs a mixed-methods approach, integrating qualitative depth – through ethnographic inquiry, survivor narratives, and participatory dialogues – with quantitative rigour derived from programme data, monitoring systems, and national trends. Research findings are translated into practical tools for service providers, briefing notes for policymakers, and accessible knowledge products for communities – bridging the persistent gap between data and implementation.

Blossom’s close engagement with communities, frontline practitioners, and institutional partners, allows for generating nuanced insights into complex social challenges, including sexual and gender-based violence, child protection, migration vulnerabilities, suicide, and intergenerational trauma.
