Migrant and Host Community Support Services

Blossom Inc.’s Migrant and Host Community Service (MHCS) was launched in May 2019. The overarching aim is to promote positive interactions for migrants and re-migrants in Guyanese society by enabling them to participate in social and economic life. This is achieved by conducting a Needs Assessment. Once needs and challenges are identified, Blossom’s Migrant & Host Community Support Workers provide psychosocial support.

MHCS services include:

  • Case Management Services
  • Comprehensive and coordinated approach to assisting refugee/migrant children and families in accessing and navigating various social services and resources.

Specialised Mental Health Therapy
To deliver specialised mental health therapy to refugee/migrant children who are experiencing symptoms requiring mental health therapy.

Childcare and Protection Outreach Services
The provision of psychosocial support through regular community- based outreaches engaging in the identification and safe referral of child protection cases and other protection issues, follow-up on cases referred to CCPA, as well as sensitisation of communities on child protection.

Emergency Assistance Service
To provide non cash support such as transportation, accommodation, and basic food as per the needs of the child and family.

Foster Care Support Service
Strengthening access to foster/alternative care arrangements for refugee and migrant children by providing financial support to identified foster families. The selection of the families will be in line with the CCPA foster/alternative care guidelines.

W.A.S.H.
W.A.S.H. stands for: Water, Sanitation and Hygiene. This service aims to improve the living conditions, health, and wellbeing of migrants.
